Kohler toilets that require top mount anchors are likely to have smaller than standard 5/8 inch (14mm) mounting holes. In this case, you must use Kohler's proprietary top mount anchors (metal inserts that plug the mounting holes).

Depending on the condition of the anchors, you may need to replace them. If the anchors are in good condition (not corroded and not loose), you can re-use them, but you'll need a 1/4 inch thread screw.
NOTE: Kohler's screw head (and most 1/4 inch thread screws from your local hardware store) are too tall for Bath Royale mounting bases. In order for the mounting base covers to fit properly, you must eliminate Bath Royale's rectangle stainless steel washers or use Bath Royale screws.
Bath Royale's "original" mounting hardware and grey split wingnuts have 1/4 inch threads and can be used with Kohler's top mount anchors. Bath Royale's white split wingnuts come with M6 metric threads that will NOT work. If you need 1/4 inch screws, we are happy to send at no charge.
