Quick Release Mechanism

For the Quick-Release mechanism to work properly...

  • The mounting bases must be installed and firmly attached to the toilet
  • The mounting surface of the toilet bowl must be perfectly flat (level), so the mounting bases are level and mounting posts pointing straight up (not on an angle), and
  • The mounting posts must be properly aligned with the holes in the back of your seat

Additional Tips:

  • To check alignment, remove seat and mounting base caps so you can access the screws. Loosen the screws enough for the mounting bases to move, replace the seat, close the lid, and move the seat around (out of position), then back into alignment with the bowl (mounting bases should move with the seat). Pull the seat forward (towards the front of the toilet bowl). We recommend having the seat overhang the front of the bowl by ΒΌ inch or so. That way, the seat can be lifted more easily without touching the front of the toilet bowl. NOTE: When fully extended, the screw heads should be at the back of the screw slots in the mounting bases. Re-tighten the screws. NOTE: It is important to hold the wingnut beneath while tightening the screw from the top. Otherwise, you will never achieve proper tightness. Tighten very firmly.
  • Sometimes the Quick-Release mechanism may be jammed and a small amount of household lubricant (3 in 1 oil, petroleum jelly on a Q-tip, or silicone) applied in the holes where mounting posts insert, can release it.
